Sony announces PS3-exclusive Rockstar franchise

A totally new game franchise will be coming from Rockstar Games–creator of the Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto series–and it will be exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 3.

SCEA’s director of third-party relations, Michael Shorrock, wrote on the official US PlayStation blog, “As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios.”

Cellphone Controlled Cleaning Bot

“SK Telekom is working on a cellphone-controlled Roomba-style cleaning robot. The final product will allow you to direct your cleaning bot’s housekeeping through your mobile and even let you monitor its progress on your phone while you’re out, thanks to a camera mounted on the front of the robot. No word on when this mobile-powered maid will hit the market, but it’s reported to be in the final stages of development.”

This is really cool technology the fact it has a camera on it is awesome enough for me to get one.

London: Shawn Lawton Henry on WCAG 2.0

Shawn Lawton Henry is the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative Outreach Coordinator, and so she’s very familiar with WCAG 2.0.

Her chapter in Friends of Ed’s Web Accessibility: Web Standards and Regulatory Compliance, Understanding Web Accessibility is an excellent practical introduction into the barriers disabled people face when using the web. One point in particular stood out for me: Allowing text to increase in size is not enough, sometimes content can be more accessible when text size is allowed to be reduced. Take for example a person suffering with tunnel vision, the range of view is limited, so a smaller font-size allows more content into their field of vision.

The RNIB Web Access Team are hosting Shawn’s accessibility talk which covers recent developments, current issues, tools, web applications, ARIA, and the WCAG-complementary guidelines ATAG and UAAG.

“As Technorati‘s CEO David Sifry has written on Technorati’s weblog, I will be stepping down from my role as Chief Technologist and joining Technorati’s Advisory Board. Specifically my last day as Chief Technologist will be July 13th, just over three years since my first day. ”

What a great job Davad has done over tee years with Technorati, and he should be very happy with the results of his labor.
