The Biltmore Estate Gardens

Mom is most interested in doing a garden tour of the Biltmore Estate next week, but if she brings my sister-in-law then we will have to do the tour of the mansion, too. I think I’ve been in the mansion three times, once at Christmas, which is spectacular if you like Victorian-styled Christmas decorations.

My earliest memories of North Carolina and South Carolina are full of azaleas, and the Biltmore has a fantastic display of azaleas, which are a feature of their spring “Festival of Flowers” every year in April through May 18. The Biltmore Estate gardens are legendary and I think maybe the only place with a more beautiful estate garden is in Delaware, at Longwood Gardens. Both properties are stunning in the spring, so if you have the chance you should go to see the flowers at their best.

Next time we visit Mt. Pisgah for snow tubing! yes!. This is another favorite winter pastime in the Appalachians. Conditions could prevent this (windy), but we’ ll let you know how much fun it is!
