Here come the holidays again – and all the entertaining that goes with them! I know there are more parties and social events between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day than any other time of the year.
At the office we just formed a committee to plan the company holiday party and our Human Resources Manager wants to host a pot luck Thanksgiving dinner on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. So I suggested she check out PeachSuite Hotel Supply to buys dining room and serving/banquet supplies. Last year we used paper plates for the dinner and I’m sorry if I sound like a snob, but it made the whole thing feel so cheap. If you are going to host an event around food, I firmly believe you should have proper plates and flatware.
My father told me a long time ago that buying Hotel Supplies makes sense when you need a lot of something that is attractive and durable. The dishes and glassware used by restaurants and hotel banquet rooms is meant to stand up to a lot of handling and use without cracking. This is important when you are trying to feed a crowd.
The Hotel Catering Supplies are usually competitively priced and you can buy exactly however many you need – you are not stuck buying sets with pieces you don’t want or need. The last set of dishes that I bought for my kitchen had 4 dinner plates, four salad plates, four cereal bowls and 4 coffee mugs. Well, I don’t use coffee mugs and my children sure don’t. Those four mugs are a complete waste of money for me and I don’t want them. In fact, I throw the mugs out in the trash as soon as I unpack the box or dishes and just consider the cost of the rest of the dishes to be higher per piece.
Of course, you don’t want the exact number of dishes based on the people who are planning to attend. You want to have some extras in case you have unexpected guests or in case a couple pieces get dropped and break. We are planning to have 24 people at the Thanksgiving dinner, so I recommend buying 30 dinner plates and maybe 6 salad plates. We don’t need bowls or mugs, so why buy sets that include those pieces?
